	Max Neustadt is an industrial Designer with a craftsman background  and a strong ambition to challenge aesthetic and technological standards. MNiD studio seeks to work with people and companies who share its passion for functional simplicity and attentively crafted goods.

  
After completing an apprenticeship as a carpenter, Max Neustadt first studied interior design and later obtained a master's degree in product design at ÉCAL in Switzerland.


He gained his first professional experience as a developer at the German furniture manufacturer Nils Holger Moormann. He subsequently worked in different studios and roles, ranging from assistant to Stefan Diez to Senior Project Designer at FPM in Munich. Since 2018 he has been running his own studio, designing products, furniture, and exhibitions. He has been a teaching furniture design and product-photography at the Design Department of Univerity of Applied Sciences in Rosenheim, since 2023 has been teaching Industrial Design at the State Academy of Fine Arts Stuttgart (ABK)


Since 2022 he has been developing Edition 33, an award-winning furniture brand that has gained increasing recognition on the international design scene.

Neues Museum Nürnberg
with Bayern Design and ABC&#38;amp;D
	The design exhibition Material+ at the Neues Museum Nürnberg explored contemporary approaches to materials through research projects, objects, and speculative design concepts. In close collaboration with the museum, Bayern Design, and communication agency Abc&#38;amp;D we developed a comprehensive exhibition structured around three thematic chapters: Research, Application and Speculation, illustrating how researchers, companies and designers are shaping material futures. As Studio MNiD, we were responsible for the overall exhibition design concept and implementation and were closely involved in the curatorial process.

	Adhoc is designed with focus on structural clarity, material efficiency and long-term use. The stool is constructed from solid ash and based on a six-leg structure that ensures stability while maintaining a characteristic visual presence. Adhoc reflects an approach to furniture as a long-term companion rather than a disposable product, combining typological familiarity with contemporary construction and material logic. Adhoc received the German Design Award 2024.

Edition 33

	Happy Step is a solid ash step stool that starts from a familiar element: the recessed handle cut into the top surface, a standard feature of this typology. Two small additions turn it into a face. The handle still works exactly as before, but the object no longer reads as a piece of equipment. What changes is not the function but the register. A minimal intervention gives the stool a presence, a recognisability, and a good mood that is hard to ignore

The modular “Panorama”- system can be used to create storage solutions of any scale: From compact single shelves and sideboards, to shelving walls, to expansive, room-dividing structures. The system is freely&#38;nbsp;configurable in height and width, can be extended indefinitely and is modifiable at any time. Disassembled into individual parts, it&#38;nbsp;is flat and ensures space-saving storage and transport. The special feature and strength of the system lies in a patented plug-in principle. Thanks to this surprisingly simple connection, the sides and shelves are quickly assembled into a stable structure without tools. With its individually adjustable feet, it adapts to uneven floors without effort. Thus, even one person alone, can assemble a shelf of any size without any prior technical knowledge. When assembled, the connecting elements are hidden and do not affect the visual integrity nor the functionality of the shelving.

An ultralight touring ski boot developed for Austrian brand Fischer Sports. My intention as the lead designer was to reconcile high-performance engineering with a familiar and intuitive boot typology. Formally, the project draws inspiration from the curved track of a skier descending through an untouched slope, translating this dynamic gesture into structural logic. The boot deliberately references the visual language of a classic leather mountain boot, anchoring a highly technical piece of sports equipment in a culturally legible tradition. Introduced in 2016 it has since become a reference point in alpine touring equipment. In the year of its market launch it has become one of the most successful ski touring boots on the market. It was awarded the the IF Award in Gold and the Red Dot Best of the Best. &#38;nbsp;

A coffee table/tray-combination designed for a domestic setting. Two pairs of handles allow either the entire table or only the top to be lifted, enabling it to function both as a side table and as a serving tray. The design is based on two curved, powder-coated steel frames that interlock and form a single structural unit. This construction creates a subtle ambiguity between table and tray, allowing the object to shift between both roles and encouraging intuitive handling in daily use.

	A family of occasional tables playing with the variation of aperture altering with the observers perspective. Reminiscent of water turbines, they strangely incorporate both, technoid, and poetic aesthetics. Made entirely from Solid Textile Board by&#38;nbsp;Really®, the flat slabs are playfully turned into volumes. The simple yet efficient construc-tion reveals the unique beauty of the material’s surface and highlights its characteristic slim edges. Each Table is built from only three different shapes, that can be produced by CNC-, laser-, or water-jet technology. The construction – when assembled – has a high stiffnessin every direction, thanks to the circular arrangement of the vertical parts. The very low tolerances of the material allow for a precise joining. The inner space between the upright sides and the horizontals serves as a circular shelf for books or magazines. Turbine Tables can be produced in various heights and sizes and are suitable for the residential environment as well as for retail- and office spaces.

When German brand AXOR (Hans Grohe) launched a bathroom collection designed by Ronan and Erwan Bouroullec, the designers invited selected Master students from ECAL to develop objects complementing the presentation at Designers’ Saturday in Langenthal, Switzerland. With my contribution, I framed hygiene as a deliberate everyday gesture. Having just arrived in Lausanne, it seemed natural to integrate a Swiss reference into my work. The Girolle, as an icon of Swiss inventive craftsmanship served as my inspiration. My version features a cylindrical piece of soap, sitting on a ceramic base. By turning the crank handle, the device dispenses a curl of soap, just enough for one single hand-washing application.
