When German brand AXOR (Hans Grohe) launched a bathroom collection designed by Ronan and Erwan Bouroullec, the designers invited selected Master students from ECAL to develop objects complementing the presentation at Designers’ Saturday in Langenthal, Switzerland. With my contribution, I framed hygiene as a deliberate everyday gesture. Having just arrived in Lausanne, it seemed natural to integrate a Swiss reference into my work. The Girolle, as an icon of Swiss inventive craftsmanship served as my inspiration. My version features a cylindrical piece of soap, sitting on a ceramic base. By turning the crank handle, the device dispenses a curl of soap, just enough for one single hand-washing application.
