Design Concept and technical Development

A family of architypical LED streetlamps designed for Italian lighting manufactur and technology-leader EWO. The Design is based on the consideration, that streetlamps usually do not stand alone, instead they are installed in greater numbers and have to match different urban contexts. They are clearly serving a specific public purpose and are not primarialy solitairs or statements. Therefore Tromsø comes with a clear and purely function-driven formal language, yet a concave pole section that frames the illuminated area defines its uniqueness to the attentive observer. To be fitted for larger serial production it is based on aluminum-extrusion profiles for the poles. Once the extrusion-tool is finalized, hundreds of meters can be produced at low costs.
